It was Brian's birthday yesterday and in honor of the special occasion, I took him out to dinner. His choice.... a steakhouse. Yes, you heard it correctly, the vegetarian took the man to one of the ultimate dead cow centers in the City (San Francisco for those not in the know). Okay, ok, I must admit, I am not a veggie, but more of what I like to call myself as a "Pesce-tarian". Keep in mind I also say that I am "vertically talented" too - Kitty speak.
I made my reservation on Open Table and just as a second thought, decided to include the fact it was his birthday in the comments section, not really thinking too much about it. Wow, I couldn't believe the service, the dinner and how great it all was. When I checked in at Morton's the host first asked who the Birthday person was, and then welcomed everyone, wishing Brian a great Birthday directly. Without my knowledge they even prepared the table ahead of time, giving us a lovely booth upon which they sprinkled "Happy Birthday" and balloon confetti. Then they personalized the menu's to say "Happy Birthday Brian". This was all done without me even having to ask, it just blew me away. And, of course, he received a complimentary piece of Carrot Cake for dessert (the only cake he likes or even really eats). I just can't say enough about the food, the service, and the extra touches. Everyone who ate steak thought it was the best they have ever had, and my ahi tuna was delicious as well. However, be warned, the portions are huge, everything is al a carte, and it's very much city prices ($$$$$). Even with that said, I would go back anytime, as it was all well worth it.
The evening concluded with an after dinner cocktail on the outside Vallejo St steps. It was such a warm, beautiful, rare San Francisco night, too good to pass up! Oh, yeah and I made a cake using those wild blackberries we picked last weekend. Double the cake, double the Yum! ~ Meow
